Game #019: Hunger Strike

Hunger Strike - In GameHunger Strike - Lose Screen

Controls: Mouse to create, upgrade and sell turrets as well as pause the game and use menus - see the in-game instructions for more detail.

Difficulty: Medium/Hard (need a strategy)

Objective: Place different towers in different place to destroy the 'hunger pangs' (enemies) and protect the body from hunger. Proceed through all of the levels, including bosses to win. Don't let enemies get to the end or you will lose lives. A good tip is to place towers in strategic places so that they can shoot enemies on multiple parts of the area.

Rating: 4/5 - I must admit, I'm not a big fan of these Tower Defence games. This may largely be because I'm not too good at them. Nonetheless, I'll try and remain impartial during this review. Hunger Strike is a fun game to play, with interesting music and sounds. What you need to do isn't too original, but if you've never played this genre of game before it can be difficult. Fortunately, there are some helpful in-game instructions. There are five different towers which can be placed in the area, all with fun names, my favourite being the 'Big Daddy Burger', which is also the most powerful and expensive weapon. Although towers can be upgraded, I had hoped for a larger variety of them. Once you get started, the game picks up and starts to be quite fun, right up until the moment it grows tedious, once you've finished about 30 or so levels. Not even this game's fun take on Tower Defence games can make up for that. So if you're bored of Tower Defence games, but find yourself addicted to them, give this one a try!

Games Master Challenge: Complete all of the levels.

Rating: 3.5/5 - Fishy is a fun game to play if you have a little spare time, and I have to admit that it can become a little addictive. You may start as a mere minnow (or goldfish, maybe?), but in time you grow to become a large fish, at the top of the food chain. If you can survive long enough, that is. Visually, the graphics of the game aren't amazing, but they aren't particularly bad either. This is made up for by some really nice background music, and the fact that this is a game for all ages. My main problem with the game is that you can feel a little confined in the small space you're in, especially when you grow to be a larger fish. To add to this, is the game too simple? It may be for more experienced online gamers. Nevertheless, it's fun, addictive and scores 3 and a half out of 5. Not bad!

Games Master Challenge: Score 15,000 points. Time-consuming, but not that difficult.

We're Back!

Yep, that's right, the Game Void is back after what has been an admittedly long absence. Life took over, I suppose, leaving me with too little time to search the internet for games to post here. Still, after my hiatus, or whatever it should be called, I'm back, hopefully for good. Now I plan to just post games whenever I find them. This may mean that the Game Void will be less frequently updated, but it's the easiest way to go about maintaining it.

Anyway, we're back, so expect some more games coming!
